Do you believe John 3:16? Then why isn’t Mark 16:17–18 your daily life?
Hi, I’m Addison. You’re reading (or listening to) Bigger Than Me—a weekly guide devoted to removing the fears, doubts, and misconceptions that keep believers from healing the sick in everyday life.

Editor’s Note
Hi everyone,
Over the past two weeks, I've been sharing the remarkable pregnancy testimony of my friends, Huy and BB. We began with the healing of their unborn daughter's leg in the womb, then followed that with BB's water breaking at four months and God miraculously restoring both the amniotic sac and fluid.
Today's issue is the conclusion of their pregnancy story.
If you haven't read the first two parts yet, I'd encourage you to check those two issues out before continuing.
God bless,
Addison

"Breathe in."
BB closed her eyes and drew a slow breath.
"And out."
The contraction eased.
"Again."
Her friend Kessia-Reyne spoke with the calm confidence of someone who had walked through this many times before. She was serving as BB's doula, talking her through each contraction while the soft beeping of monitors filled the spaces between Kessia-Reyne’s instructions.
"Picture yourself like a mother whale," she said. "Your body already knows what to do."
BB nodded, focusing on her breathing.
The delivery room was quiet. BB’s husband Huy stood off in one corner with his phone pressed to his ear, giving their friend back at the apartment an update while she watched their kids.
Another contraction came.
"Breathe..."
BB fixed her eyes on a spot across the room.
In the corner sat the baby warmer. A small panda sticker had been placed on the side of it.
She studied it for a moment.
The contraction passed.
"You know," BB said, turning toward Kessia-Reyne with a grin, "I want to give birth like a panda."
Kessia-Reyne laughed.
"A panda?"
"Yeah." BB pointed toward the warmer. "They just sneeze..." She paused for effect. "...and BAM! There's the baby."
That got everyone laughing.
Nearly every appointment came with a negative diagnosis.
Severe deformities. Mental disabilities. Even stillbirth.
According to the doctors, all of them were real possibilities.
Despite the continually grim news, after BB's amniotic fluid was restored, God made his instructions clear to Huy and BB:
"Stop praying for healing. Pray for your daughter to be baptized in My Spirit”
Week after week, that's what we prayed for.
Before long, it was time for the final appointment before the due date.
More terrible news.
Based on everything the doctors were seeing, they still believed the baby would be stillborn. They gently suggested that Huy and BB not invite any family to the hospital.
Huy and BB called on the drive home afterward to give an update.
We prayed for their daughter’s anointing in the Holy Spirit as always, and thanked God for his faithfulness.
Later that night, a concerning thought entered BB’s mind.
She shared it with Huy.
He'd heard the same thing.
“Whatever you do, do not get an epidural.”
For some, that might not sound like the end of the world.
For BB, it was frightening.
Her previous labors lasted entire days. Her longest was 36 exhausting hours of active labor.
The thought of enduring an agonizing thirty-six-hour labor without pain medication...
...only to leave the hospital without her daughter?
Unthinkable.
BB knew what God had said.
She chose to trust God.
The following Friday, BB’s contractions began mid afternoon.
Minutes later, a friend unexpectedly stopped by to say hello.
She just so happened to have everything she needed to stay the night with her.
A short while later, BB's water broke.
“Wait.”
They fed the kids.
Got everyone ready for bed.
They even sat down to eat dinner themselves.
Only after they finished eating did the Lord speak.
"Go."
Less than an hour later, they were settling into the delivery room, Kessia-Reyne by BB's side as active labor began.
Huy answered a few texts.
Checked in one last time with their friend back at the apartment.
The kids were sound asleep.
With Kessia-Reyne by BB's side, there wasn't much left for Huy to do.
So he prayed.
Huy talked with God, mentally preparing himself for what he assumed would be another marathon.
A nurse waited with Huy in the room while BB labored in the birthing tub while Kessia-Reyne supported her.
Then they heard it.
A baby’s cry.
Huy and the nurse looked at each other, frozen for a split second.
Then they both hurried into the bathroom.
BB was smiling.
Their daughter was already in her arms.
The nurse hurried back out and buzzed the rest of the staff.
For a few seconds, no one said a word.
Then the room exploded.
Nurses rushed through the doorway.
Doctors hurried in behind them.
More staff followed.
Each one expecting the worst.
Instead...
No rushing to save the baby.
No emergency procedures.
No desperate measures.
Just a perfectly healthy little girl resting peacefully in her mother's arms.

“I know what God said, but things are different now.”
The hard part wasn't hearing God.
It was continuing to trust what God had said after every doctor's appointment suggested otherwise.
We do the same thing.
We rarely reject what God says outright.
We just assume new circumstances require new instructions.

God Doesn't Need to Repeat Himself
God knew every doctor's report before He spoke.
He knew every setback.
God knew every reason they'd be tempted to question what He'd already said.
Nothing caught Him by surprise.
That's why He didn't need to change His instructions.
He simply called Huy and BB to trust what He had already said.

A Prayer for Trusting His Word
“Dear Father,
Thank You that nothing catches You by surprise.
Thank You that You know the end before You speak.
Jesus, thank You for showing me what complete trust in the Father looks like.
Thank You for teaching me to live by what God has spoken instead of what my circumstances suggest.
Holy Spirit, thank You for empowering my obedience.
Thank You for reminding me of what You have spoken when fear tries to pull me in another direction.
I release the belief that changing circumstances mean Your Word is less trustworthy.
I reject the lie that fear, pressure, or bad news have the authority to rewrite what You have spoken.
I will keep listening to Your voice.
I will trust what You have said.
I will stand in obedience.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.”
Until next time,
Addison
