Do you believe John 3:16? Then why isn’t Mark 16:17–18 your daily life?

Hi, I’m Addison. You’re reading (or listening to) Bigger Than Me—a weekly guide devoted to removing the fears, doubts, and misconceptions that keep believers from healing the sick in everyday life.

Editor’s Note

Hi everyone,

I’ve been traveling a lot recently and I got a bit behind on my writing. Unfortunately, that meant I didn’t get this issue out in time for my usual deadline. For anyone that checked their inbox this morning and didn’t see a new BTM issue waiting for you, that’s my bad.

Thank you for your continued readership and I hope you enjoy this (belated) Bigger Than Me issue as you go into the weekend!

Cheers,

Addison.

I nodded along silently as Huy explained the situation over the phone.

The latest ultrasound showed his unborn daughter’s right femur was noticeably shorter than the left.

The doctors explained it likely meant she'd be born with severe physical and developmental disabilities.

It had already been very hard pregnancy.

There had been fear of miscarriage from the beginning. Talk of a stillborn delivery. More than one scary doctor's report.

We'd been praying through all of it, and things were finally starting to turn around.

This felt like a gut punch.

So we prayed again.

We thanked God for what He had already spoken over their daughter. She would be healthy and anointed with His Spirit.

We commanded that little femur to grow in Jesus' name.

Then we said our goodbyes and hung up.

A few days later, my phone buzzed.

Screenshot of a text conversation between Huy and myself about the leg growing out.

Huy: “Clean bill of health for baby. Praise the Lord. That little leg had to listen to the authority of the king”
Me: “Let’s go” [with Smiling GIF]

Visible = Permanent

It feels easier to trust God when you don't have an answer for what's wrong.

It's harder when it's staring you right in the face.

Circled.

Plain as day on a screen.

Everyone in that room could see one femur was shorter than the other.

Nobody was imagining it.

That's when the lie starts sounding reasonable.

Once you've seen it...

Diagnosed it...

Labeled it...

You stop expecting it to change.

Reports Describe. Jesus Restores.

Months later, Huy’s daughter was born.

Healthy.

No complications.

No disabilities.

No NICU stay.

Just another happy, healthy little girl welcomed into the world.

The ultrasound wasn’t the end of the story.

It only showed what his daughter looked like that day.

Reports describe.

Scans reveal.

Measurements tell us where we are.

Jesus restores.

The report did its job.

A Prayer for Living by Faith Over Sight

Dear Father,

Thank You for creating me and knowing me better than anyone ever could.
Thank You for speaking truth over my life.

Jesus, thank You for restoring what sin and sickness stole.
Thank You that You finished the work and gave me authority to heal the sick in Your name.

Holy Spirit, thank You for reminding me of the truth when fear tries to convince me otherwise.
Thank You for giving me courage to trust in You over what I can see.

Today, I reject the lie that what I can see is permanent.

I refuse to let reports speak louder than Your truth Lord.

I will trust what You've spoken.

I will confidently pray for the sick, trusting You to move as You always have.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Until next time,
Addison
