Do you believe John 3:16? Then why isn’t Mark 16:17–18 your daily life?

Hi, I’m Addison. You’re reading (or listening to) Bigger Than Me—a weekly guide devoted to removing the fears, doubts, and misconceptions that keep believers from healing the sick in everyday life.

(Unsure if modern healing is something the Bible actually teaches? Start here.)

My phone rang.

It was my friend Huy.

His wife BB was four months pregnant and her water had just broken.

Before heading to her OB, they called me.

We thanked God for what He had already spoken over their daughter. She would live, be healthy, and be filled with His Spirit.

Then we commanded the amniotic sac to reseal in Jesus' name.

We commanded the amniotic fluid to be restored.

We hung up.

When they arrived at the OB's office, the leaking had stopped.

The examination confirmed the amniotic sac was sealed.

The fluid was restored.

BB and her daughter were completely healthy.

“How Do We Survive This?”

If someone's water breaks four months into a pregnancy, most people would react the same way:

You call the doctor's office on the way to your car.

Maybe between the panic and adrenaline, you text your friends to pray that the baby survives.

Before you ever reach for the door, you've already started asking, "How do we get through this?" instead of, "What can be fixed?"

Think Differently

The water had broken.

That much was true.

But it wasn't final.

There's a difference.

Jesus never taught His disciples to make peace with a broken world.

That's why we didn't pray for strength to endure a premature birth.

We commanded a new outcome.

A Prayer for Renewed Thinking

Dear Father,

Thank You that nothing is impossible for You.

Jesus, thank You for teaching me to see the world differently.
Thank You for showing me that what is broken doesn't have to stay broken.

Holy Spirit, thank You for renewing my mind.
Thank You for reminding me to ask a different question.

Today, I release the belief that every bad report is a final outcome.

I reject the lie that my job is simply to endure whatever happens next.

I will remember that You have given me authority to speak to what is broken in Jesus' name.

The next time I face an impossible situation, I won’t accept it as over.
I will ask, "What can be fixed?"
Then I will boldly command what is broken to be restored.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Until next time,
Addison
